The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the fourth consecutive day, increasing a half-cent to $4.167.
The average price has risen 3.3 cents over the past four days, including nine-tenths of a cent on Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 3.5 cents more than one week ago, 1.8 cents higher than one month ago and 7.5 cents greater than one year ago,
The Orange County average price rose for the eighth consecutive day, increasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.158. It is 4.7 cents more than one week ago, 2.2 cents higher than one month ago and 8.3 cents greater than one year ago.
The Orange County average price has risen 4.8 cents over the past eight days, including eight-tenths of a cent on Friday.
The rising pump prices stem from a sharp increase in wholesale prices caused by unplanned outages at two Los Angeles County refineries. The outages have disrupted Southern California gasoline production, reducing the supply, Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News
