A suspicious package found on the fourth floor of Beverly Hills City Hall that prompted an evacuation and street closure earlier today has been deemed safe.
Police announced the building and surrounding area has been reopened to the public.
The package was discovered at 1:41 p.m. in Beverly Hills City Hall at 455 North Rexford Drive, according to Beverly Hills police Sgt. Sean Smollen.
Smollen said he had no details about what kind of package it was.
“We don’t have a bomb squad,” Smollen said. “We use the Sheriff’s. But right now we haven’t requested their help.”
The investigation was being handled by a combination of police and fire units, he said.
Police had closed down Rexford Drive between north and south Santa Monica Boulevard.
