President Barack Obama today congratulated Los Angeles Kings captain Dustin Brown for the team winning the Stanley Cup.
Obama mentioned the perseverance the Kings showed in overcoming a three games to none deficit in their first-round series against the San Jose Sharks.
Obama also praised Brown’s play for the U.S. team during the Winter Olympics and the sportsmanship he demonstrated, according to a White House aide.
Obama told Brown he was looking forward to the Kings visit to the White House, which will be their second in three seasons.
Brown took the call in the office of team president/general manager Dean Lombardi at its El Segundo training facility.
