Roughly 1,000 customers lost power today in the Park La Brea area — including The Grove and Farmers Market — due to an underground vault explosion.
The explosion at 6348 West Third Street was reported to the Los Angeles Dept. of Water and Power at 8:26 a.m., according to DWP spokeswoman Michelle Vargas, who said most of the affected customers had their electricity restored about 9:30 a.m.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 8:29 a.m., said Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department, who said there was no fire and no injuries.
It was not immediately clear what triggered the blast.
