Detectives with the Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau asked for the public’s help today in identifying a man who sexually assaulted a woman May 17 on a Metro Purple Line train.
The sexual assault occurred about 10:45 p.m. that Saturday on a Union Station-bound train between the Wilshire/Western and Wilshire/Normandie stops, according to Sgt. Al Garcia of the Special Victims Bureau.
The woman boarded the train at the Wilshire/Western station and was alone in the railcar with her attacker, he said.
The man pushed her down and sexually assaulted her, Garcia said. She kicked the man, broke free and managed to get off the train at the Wilshire/Normandie station, where she reported the assault, he said.
The suspect was described as black, 35 to 45 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches and 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
