Century City is already the home of the entertainment’s industry “Death Star,” with Creative Artists Agency’s headquarters making its presence quite clear on a certain stretch of Avenue of the Stars. Last week, it was announced another iconic Hollywood entity will make its presence be known only one city block away from CAA, as the syndicated television program Extra will begin taping episodes in front of live audiences at Westfield Century City.

The popular entertainment and lifestyle program, now in its 20th season, previously recorded its shows at The Grove at Farmers Market in the Fairfax District between 2010 and 2013.

Extra and Westfield Century City have partnered to bring even more fashion, lifestyle, and celebrity news to our viewers utilizing the diverse mix of stores, eateries and luxurious space Westfield Century City has to offer,” a statement on the television program’s Facebook page stated.

After leaving The Grove last season began taping episodes at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk. In partnering with Westfield Century City, Extra maintains its current practice of taping episodes in open-air public spaces.

It has yet to be announced whether the program’s partnership with Westfield Century City is exclusive or if Extra would split show recordings at the shopping center and Universal City. Tapings are expected to continue at Westfield Century City through June.

The second longest entertainment news magazine in syndication, Extra is hosted by Mario Lopez and Maria Menounos; Lopez joined the show in 2008, while Menounos came aboard in 2011. In addition to Lopez and Menounos, Extra has seven correspondents.

Extra debuted in September 1994. It is distributed by Warner Bros. Television and, since 2003, produced by Telepictures Productions.

Prior to its stint at The Grove, Extra filmed at Victory Studios in Glendale, Calif., between 1994 and 2010.

Here in Los Angeles, Extra airs weekdays at 7 p.m. and on Sundays at 12:36 a.m. on NBC4.

Announcements of when and where fans of the show can join Extra at Westfield Century City will be announced on Twitter; weekly updates can be found at @ExtraTV and @WestfieldCC.
