Assembly member Sebastian Ridley-Thomas, who represents Century City in Sacramento, announced Jan. 13 he has endorsed Ms. Autumn Burke for the 62nd Assembly District in the state’s June 3, 2014 Primary Election. Ms. Burke seeks to succeed Assembly member Steve Bradford.
“Autumn Burke will bring new ideas and a next generation policy perspective to the State Capitol on behalf of the people of the 62nd Assembly District. Autumn understands that our first order of business is to create new jobs that will put residents back to work,” Ridley-Thomas stated.
“As a businesswoman, Autumn understands the importance of aiding our for small businesses to promote local hiring that can add some punch to our state’s weak but steady economic recovery. Autumn is the right candidate at the right time for the people of the 62nd Assembly District.
“She will add her policy voice to our ongoing ACA healthcare implementation efforts, work to bring the Inglewood Unified School District out of receivership and join with those of us who are working to secure a project that will bring rail transit passengers to airport terminals in LAX,” Ridley-Thomas added.
Ms. Burke is the daughter of Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, who formerly served as a state Assemblywoman, U.S. Representative and member of the L.A. County Board of Supervisors. The 62nd Assembly District stretches from West Los Angeles to the South Bay, including Marina Del Rey, Mar Vista and the Cities of Inglewood, Hawthorne, Lawndale, El Segundo.
