The September 30 deadline is looming for Brentwood Newsstand’s eviction from outside Whole Foods on San Vicente Boulevard.
To date, owner Marck Sarfati has not heard anything further from Whole Foods.
However, he told Brentwood News this week that the petition to save the newsstand now has over 5,100 signatures at both the stand and online.
“These will be shipped to the Whole Foods executives very soon,” Sarfati said.
Thousands have people have left comments under the online petition. Just a sampling of them include:
“Whole Foods is acting like a bully & needs to stop. Of all retailers I would think Whole Foods would understand after having been bought out by Amazon online Marketplace. Sad.”
“We need more than Starbucks and Italian restaurants in Brentwood.”
“I love anyone who tries to own their own business. We need to support local business owners vs corporate businesses.”
