The National Weather Service is advising fans attending tonight’s Los Angeles Dodgers game at Dodger Stadium to bring a rain jacket as there will likely be some steady light rain falling during the game against the San Diego Padres.

A cold frontal system is forecast by the weather service to move into Los Angeles County this afternoon into the evening hours, with three-to-four hours of steady light to locally moderate rain.

The Dodgers are in the midst of a team-record streak of 1,212 games without a rainout. The most recent of the 17 rainouts since Dodger Stadium opened in 1962 occurred on April 17, 2000.

The Dodgers had one rainout during the first 14 seasons at Dodger Stadium, which occurred on April 21, 1967. There were three rainouts in both 1976 and 1977, two in 1978, one each in 1982, 1983 and 1986, three in 1988 and one each in 1999 and 2000.

Nine of the rainouts have occurred in April, including each of the last five, four in September and two each in May and August. The Padres have been the scheduled opponent in six of the rainouts, the most of any team.

Ryan Hunter-Reay, the 2014 Indianapolis 500 winner, is scheduled to throw the ceremonial first pitch, 12 days before he is to race in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. The national anthem will be performed by Elena Sogard, a niece of Steve Sax, a Dodger second baseman from 1981-88.

Former Dodger pitching star Orel Hershiser, now an analyst on SportsNet LA, will take photos with fans from 6:45-7:10 p.m. in the Time Warner Cable left field pavilion.

U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Alejandro Salazar of Oxnard will be honored as the Military Hero of the Game. Salazar served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 while assigned to the 1st Tank Battalion and served aboard the USS John C. Stennis.

Salazar is currently stationed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Three in Port Hueneme.

Auto gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and all stadium gates at 5 p.m. for the 7:10 p.m. game, the second of the season-opening three-game series. The Dodgers were 6-3 winners in Monday’s season opener.
