During those same hours, motorists are being advised to avoid the following areas:

— Sherman Way and Vineland Avenue;

— North Hollywood Way and Alameda Avenue; and

— Olive Avenue and Hollywood Way.

From 5:30 to 7 p.m., motorists should avoid Alameda Avenue and the westbound Ventura (134) Freeway.

Street closures will also be in place at Forest Lawn and North Pass Avenue from 4 to 8 p.m., police say.

According to Los Angeles police, motorists should avoid the following areas between 5 and 8 p.m.:

— southbound San Diego (405) Freeway and Santa Monica Boulevard;

— Santa Monica and Westwood boulevards; and

— Pass Avenue and the 134 Freeway, and Verdugo Avenue and Hollywood Way, Hollywood Way and Vanowen Street, and Vineland and Sherman Way from 8 to 9:30 a.m.

Biden’s Los Angeles trip is to tout President Barack Obama’s proposal to make two years of community college free.

According to the White House, Biden will speak at West Los Angeles College in Culver City on Friday morning “to discuss the importance of helping Americans go to college and get the skills they need to succeed.”

Obama unveiled his “America’s College Promise” proposal earlier this month, and he is expected to promote the idea — which has already been blasted by Republicans — during his State of the Union address tonight.

Biden will be in Irvine on Saturday to deliver the keynote speech at the Patient Safety, Science and Technology Summit at the Hotel Irvine, 17900 Jamboree Road.
