Fox announced Monday that it has ordered six more episodes for its first-season origin story of the Batman universe “Gotham,”
increasing the total order to 22 episodes.
“Gotham” is tied as Monday night’s most-watched drama among viewers ages 18-49 and broadcast television’s most-watched drama among men ages 18-49, according to Nielsen figures supplied by Fox.
“‘Gotham’ debuted as one of the most buzzed-about shows of the fall, and with good reason,” Fox Television Group Chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman said in a statement.
“(Executive producers) Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon have created an incredibly rich world, with characters that draw you in and a cast that brings to life these heroes and villains in a way we’ve never seen before.”
“Gotham” stars “Southland” and “The OC” alumnus Ben McKenzie as the future Commissioner James Gordon when he was a rookie detective, investigating the killings of Thomas and Martha Wayne and forming a bond with their 12-year son Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).
“Gotham” becomes the third new broadcast series for the 2014-15 season to receive a full season order, following the drama “How to Get with Murder” and the comedy “black-ish,” both on ABC.
