A former UCLA associate athletic director pleaded no contest today to a misdemeanor charge of possessing child pornography and was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to register as a sex offender.
Michael Sondheimer, 59, was charged with one felony count of possession of matter depicting a minor engaging in sexual conduct. As part of his negotiated plea, the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor.
In addition to three years of summary probation, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Shelly Torrealba ordered Sondheimer to attend sex offender counseling for one year and to forfeit the work-issued laptop computer containing the illegal images.
The case was investigated by the University of California police.
Sondheimer resigned last year after being placed on administrative leave. He is due back in court Sept. 8 for a probation progress report.
