The plumbing world has lost a pioneer and marketing legend with the death of Jack Stephan Sr., most commonly known for his entertaining TV commercials from the sixties.
In the late 1940’s, Jack founded one of the largest plumbing companies in Southern California: Jack Stephan Plumbing & Heating. Building a reputation for delivering quality and reliable service combined with the unprecedented use of television advertising, resulted in Jack Stephan quickly becoming a household name.
His extensive knowledge of plumbing and heating and his clever business marketing skills set the bar of excellence in the industry. Jack’s innovation is embossed on his businesses, which are currently operated by his sons Jack Jr. and Russell. His exceptional ambition and flamboyant style were hallmarks of his business and personal life.
Jack Stephan was also known for his determination to successfully grow his companies, while staying true to his founding principles of being the local plumber and drain specialists that his customers could always trust to get the job done fast, and at a fair price. He instilled these same principles upon his sons, who have been proudly running the businesses for some time now.
Born in Chicago, Jack moved to Los Angeles with his father, an inventor, and his mother a nurse, at the age of three. Prior to opening his businesses, he attended USC on a football scholarship, worked at the Long Beach Naval Shipyards and served in the Navy during WWII. Jack Stephan Sr. is survived by his third wife Barbara, his second wife Allene, his four children and grandchildren.
