A female UCLA student was robbed by a man who forced her into his car and pulled up her shirt in the North Village area near the campus, it was reported today.
The crime occurred about 12:05 a.m. Tuesday as the student was walking on Ophir Drive toward Veteran Avenue, the UCLA Daily Bruin reported.
A man standing outside a dark parked Honda sedan approached the student, told her to give him her belongings, then reached into her sweater pocket and took out her cell phone, the newspaper reported.
The man then forced her into his car and lifted up her shirt, but she used her pepper spray on him and was able to escape. The man was described as Asian, between 20 and 25, 5 feet, with short spiky hair. He wore a gray T-shirt, light-colored jeans and a cloth necklace.
Anyone with information on the crime was urged to call university police at (310) 825-9371.
