Meet Century City: Bryan Chambers, Veolia

Bryan Chambers.
Bryan Chambers.

Bryan Chambers helps keep Century City cool. As manager of business development and customer relation at Veolia, Chambers has ensured his company’s thermal energy network has cooled down the high-rises and condos of Century City for the past two years.

Veolia is located at 2052 Century Park East and has 10 employees in Century City. His most recent achievement was acting as co-chair for the ever-successful annual Century City Chamber of Commerce Gold Tournament.

Tell me a little about what you do in Century City?

Veolia owns and operates a district thermal energy plant, which has been around since the inception of Century City. District energy consists of the production of hot and chilled water, which is used for heating and cooling, and is transported to our customers through an underground pipeline. Veolia currently serves nine customers in Century City including high-rise office buildings, residential, healthcare, and hospitality.

What motivated you to get into the role?

Veolia offered me an opportunity to work for a leading edge company with a focus on the environment, and the reduction of carbon footprint across the world. Resource conservation is near and dear to my heart, and I am proud to work for a company that is leading the world in resource management.

Where did it all begin for you career-wise?

I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico, and have always had an interest in the energy sector. I began my career with the Public Service Company of New Mexico, and have continued working in the energy industry as a business developer for 12 plus years.

What do you love about Century City? Where is your favorite place to eat/exercise/take a break from the office in the area?

I love how clean Century City is. You couldn’t find another pocket in a metropolitan city with this level of cleanliness. My favorite place to take a break is on the roof of our plant, which offers spectacular 360 degree views of Los Angeles.

If you could add one thing to the area what would it be and why?

Transit into Century City has its challenges. I believe a Metro Rail would provide a much need jolt to the Century City economy, allowing it to flourish as a nightlife destination for Angelenos.

What do you do in you spare time?

I love live entertainment – from theater to concerts to sporting events. With all of its historic venues, Los Angeles is the best city in the world to be entertained. I also enjoy spending time at home with my beautiful wife and our two cats.

What is one cool thing that you want to do this year?

Go to a World Series game at Dodger Stadium.

Where was your last vacation?

Florida – Bahamas.

Where do you wish your last vacation was?

France – Switzerland – Italy; Although, this will be our next vacation.
