Contractor Continues Progress Along The 8.5-mile Alignment On Several Construction Activities For Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project
Crenshaw Boulevard between 59th and 60th streets has two southbound lanes closed for removal of the Tesoro gas line. The work has been scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.Monday through Friday and it will last approximately one month.
Construction activities will begin soon to build the underground trench for the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project alignment between 59th and 60th streets and in the right-of-way from Crenshaw Boulevard to Brynhurst Avenue with a traffic reconfiguration on July 10 follow by pot holing -location of underground utilities-, and steel piles installation.
Tunnel construction will take place in various stages and is anticipated to last three and half years. Metro will provide more details as the date approaches.
Since Monday, June 22, Crenshaw Boulevard between 59th and 60th streets has two southbound lanes closed for removal of the Tesoro gas line. The work has been scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.Monday through Friday and it will last approximately one month.
On June 29, WSCC will begin rail welding activities on the Metro right-of-way east of Portal Avenue, between Manchester Avenue and Arbor Vitae Street. However, preparation activities on the site are already underway. Work has been scheduled from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Portal Avenue is located east of Bellanca Avenue adjacent to the Metro right-of-way. Access to Portal Avenue in this area will be restricted. Access to business on the east side of Bellanca Avenue between Manchester Avenue and Arbor Vitae Street will be maintained via Bellanca Avenue.
WSCC began working on street improvements on the west side of Crenshaw Boulevard between Brynhurst Avenue and 48th Street in preparation of future construction activities, including removal and replacement of curbs and gutters. As part of those activities some existing parking meters will be removed and one southbound lane will be closed.
Metro Bus service in construction areas may be detoured but Metro will post bus route changes on the regular bus stops. For Metro bus service updates call (323) GO-METRO from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.,Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The 8.5-mile Crenshaw/LAX Line is a $2.058 billion light-rail line that will connect the Green Line and the Expo Line. It will have eight new stations to serve the Crenshaw, Inglewood and LAX communities. It is expected to open in 2019.
