A 20-year-old woman accused of stealing money from tip jars at various businesses in Beverly Hills was charged today with five misdemeanor counts of petty theft.
Jessica Mary Shub was also charged with a single misdemeanor count of attempted petty theft. She pleaded not guilty and is due back at the Airport Branch Courthouse Feb. 25, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Shub was arrested Thursday in the 9600 block of Brighton Way, where a witness was following her, according to Beverly Hills police.
Prosecutors said Shub stole money from jars at five Beverly Hills businesses, including a pizzeria, coffee shop and ice cream parlor. During the search for a suspect in the thefts, authorities dubbed the culprit “The Tip Jar Bandit.”
She faces up to 33 months in jail if convicted, prosecutors said.
