Officer’s Actions and Investigation Yields Arrest
By Dolores Quintana
On the afternoon of Saturday, October 21, at approximately 4:40 p.m., an officer from the Culver City Police Department (CCPD) was engaged in a routine mall parking lot patrol at Westfield Mall when an alert officer spotted an occupied Honda Civic.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from the San Jose Police Department. There were two people occupying the vehicle when the police arrived.
Without any complications, both individuals inside the vehicle were detained by law enforcement. The driver of the stolen vehicle was taken into custody on charges of vehicle theft, while the passenger was released at the scene.
The vehicle will be returned to the owner, which will undoubtedly be good news for the owners of the car. CCPD’s actions have resulted in an arrest for a car that might not have otherwise been found since it was so far from the owner’s home city.
