Limited service continues Friday morning for commuters riding the Blue and Expo lines following a fire that caused damage at the 7th Street/Metro Station.
Three-car trains will run every 10 to 12 minutes, according to Jose Ubaldo, a Metro spokesman. Regular service is every six minutes.
Metro warns passengers to continue to allow extra time for their commute and that trains may be crowded.
Passengers traveling to Long Beach will need to board the Blue Line trains on platform No. 2 and riders traveling to Santa Monica will board Expo trains on platform N. 1, Ubaldo said.
Firefighters were called to the station at 899 W. Seventh St., near Figueroa Street, at about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday and quickly put out the fire, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Nine people, mainly Metro employees, were treated for smog inhalation, with one taken to a hospital, Ubaldo said.
People who had been in the station had self-evacuated by the time firefighters arrived, according to Humphrey, who said fire alarms sounded.
The fire involved two electrical transformers, Humphrey said. The cause remains under investigation.
Repair work on the north tail track was carried out Thursday and will continue Friday, Ubaldo said.
