A woman who appeared to be a transient walked onto the airfield at Los Angeles International Airport yesterday and was quickly taken into custody by police.
The woman walked through an access gate near Aviation Boulevard and 111th Street that was open to allow a vehicle in about 3:45 p.m., said Officer Rob Pedregon of the Los Angeles Airport Police.
The woman was arrested for suspicion of trespassing and taken to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Division Jail.
“I’m proud of the quick actions of our LAX security personnel who were able to stop this woman,” said Los Angeles Airport Police Chief Patrick Gannon.
“This is just another example of how our layered approach to security at LAX is working and keeping potential security threats from interrupting airport operations.”
