A broken main flooded streets and sent water into two apartment units Wednesday afternoon in West Hollywood.
The main broke about 4:05 p.m. in the area of Harratt Street and Palm Drive, near Larrabee Street, according to Beverly Hills police.
The water was shut off, police reported at about 5:30 p.m.
Crews from West Hollywood Public Works and Beverly Hills Public Works, which provides water service in the area, were at the scene with Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel, police said.
It was not immediately known how many customers were left without water, but repairs were expected to be completed between 10:30 tonight and 1:30 a.m. Thursday, police said.
Damage from the water was being assessed.
A fire department dispatcher said earlier that the two flooded units were below street level.
Fire crews used filled hose lines, sandbags and ladders wrapped in tarps to channel the water away from properties.
