Six miles of road through iconic parts of Los Angeles will be closed to vehicle traffic on Sunday for the 15th CicLAvia car- free street festival.
The “Heart of L.A.” route, open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will feature activities and vendors at various hubs along the streets of Boyle Heights, the Arts District, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, the Civic Center, Historic Core and MacArthur Park.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, county Supervisor Hildra Solis and others officials will kick off the festivities at 8:30 a.m. at Los Angeles City Hall.
CicLAvia organizers will also announce the findings of a study, conducted by UCLA and the RAND Corporation, of the social, environmental and health impacts of their event.
Organizers will also recognize a married couple who went to a CicLAvia event for their second date and became engaged at another CicLAvia event. The couple will be celebrating their one-year wedding anniversary this Sunday.
