Mickey Fine Pharmacy opens fourth Century City location

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held last month for the newest Mickey Fine Pharmacy at 2000 Avenue of the Stars in Century City.

Family-owned Mickey Fine Pharmacy opened a new pair of doors in the heart of Century City on Thursday, April 23. The day was extra special for owner Jeffrey Gross – the day marked 10 years since his father purchased the company’s original location at 414 N. Camden Drive in Beverly Hills.

“Mickey Fine was initially part of the Schwab pharmacy firm in the 1950s,” Gross explained. “Mickey Fine was a pharmacist. My father bought the store in 1995, and I’ve been involved with the pharmacy since 2001.”

Gross said that the team at Mickey Fine Pharmacy took the opportunity when the chance arose to open up shop at 2000 Avenue of the Stars in addition to the pharmacy’s three other Century City locations.

“The grand opening celebration was great,” Gross said. “City representatives from councilmen’s offices and the Chamber of Commerce were all present, as well as people from the building. We also like to tie our events in with charity, so we were accepting clothing donations for the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW).”

The pharmacy carries an expansive array of both over-the-counter medications and gift items.

“Our number one goal is to make the lives of the community easier,” Gross emphasized. “When you account for the time it takes at a chain as opposed to an independent pharmacy – to park, to wait for the prescriptions to be filled – we’re able to fill prescriptions very promptly compared to most other experiences. However, it depends on the circumstances too: so if a chain is more efficient for some customers, then I encourage them to stick with what works.”

Interestingly enough, the prices of co-payments remain static in both independently owned pharmacies and larger chains like Target or CVS, although some may hold the wide belief that private pharmacies tend to cost more, according to Gross.

Appropriately, the pharmacy holds the motto of: “where the best costs no more.”

The new Mickey Fine Pharmacy is located at 2000 Avenue of the Stars in Century City.
