The second public art exhibition organized by the Arts Council of Century City Chamber of Commerce is well underway this month: residents, employees, and passersby can anticipate the gradual installment of 19 total sculptures throughout the neighborhood.

The exhibition of public sculptures is being curated by Carl Schlosberg, who is the chair of the Arts Council’s Sculpture Committee.

According to informed sources on the Arts Council, the public sculpture exhibition will be spotlighting the works of 10 contemporary artists.

“Currently, there have been five sculptures installed in and around the 10100 Santa Monica Blvd.,” a representative from the Arts Council said. “There is one installed outside, and there are four smaller sculptures inside.”

There is also one other sculpture that has already been stationed at the intersection of Century Park East and Constellation Blvd. in front of the Northern Tower.

The rest of the sculpture installation project is in progress, with the bulk of the remainder of the sculptures set to be situated into place this upcoming weekend.

“Over Valentine’s Day weekend, we will be installing the majority of the remaining works all along Avenue of the Stars as well as in various other locations,” the representative said.

There will be eight or nine sculptures, towering at around 30 feet, placed on the street and on private properties on Feb. 14 and 15. The 19 pieces of art will ultimately span the majority of the city within a city.

For the first time since the establishment of the Arts Council, the organization has received four sponsors from the residential community.

“I never cease to be amazed by the continual support of the surrounding community,” said Jean Tardy-Vallernaud, Chair of the Arts Council.

With the mission of “increasing enjoyment and appreciation of the arts,” the Arts Council expressed excitement and anticipation toward the imminent completion of the public art exhibition and its impact on its audience and art enthusiasts.

“The purpose of the Arts Council is to elevate the quality of life in Century City by bringing art to the community,” Tardy-Vallernaud said. “Each and every one of these 19 pieces is going to stimulate the imagination in every way. They all complement and complete each other.”

The upcoming public sculpture exhibition will be a year-round exhibition and is the successor to the 2013-2014 Ave. of the Stars public art exhibit that featured Gwynn Murrill, which was also curated by Carl Schlosberg.
