The Los Angeles Dodgers dealt two-time All- Star outfielder Matt Kemp to the San Diego Padres in a five-player trade on Thursday.
The Dodgers acquired catcher Yasmani Grandal, right-handed pitcher Joe Wieland and minor league pitcher Zach Eflin in exchange for Kemp, catcher Tim Federowicz and cash considerations.
The 30-year-old Kemp had a .292 batting average with 182 home runs and 648 RBI in nine seasons with the Dodgers. Federowicz hit .194 with five home runs and 22 RBI in 89 games with the Dodgers from 2011-2014.
Grandal hit .245 with 24 home runs and 94 RBI in 216 games with the Padres from 2012-14.
Wieland has a 1-4 record with a 5.31 ERA in nine major league games (seven starts) over two seasons and has pitched parts of six seasons in the minors. He missed the second half of the 2012 season and all of the 2013 season due to Tommy John surgery.
Eflin has not pitched in the majors. He has a 17-14 record with a 3.41 ERA in 50 games (49 starts) in three minor league seasons.
