The Southland’s biggest football game of the year will be held Saturday when UCLA and USC face off at the Rose Bowl, and Bruin fans will get geared up tonight for the rivalry with UCLA’s annual bonfire rally on the Westwood campus.
Football coach Jim Mora, team members, the UCLA spirit squad and the UCLA band will be there with thousands of cheering, chanting students.
The rally starts at 6:30 p.m., with the bonfire lighting at 7 p.m. on Wilson Plaza, near the Student Activities Center at 220 Westwood Plaza.
USC supporters have already stepped up the rivalry, with the Trojan colors being slapped on a Bruin statue at UCLA before students could install protective cover. USC’s Tommy Trojan statue has been wrapped up for weeks to avoid any attack of blue paint.
