The shooting occurred about 5:50 pm Thursday in the 6300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevards, near Victory Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Michael Pebley, 40, of Tujunga died at the scene, coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.
According to news reports, Pebley was the tattoo artist Trigz, who was widely known and worked with artists such as Chris Brown.
Officers who responded to the shooting call found Prebley lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound, according to the LAPD.
“The suspect was inside a business … when the victim walked in,” according to a police statement.
The two ”became involved in an argument that escalated into a physical fight,” police said.
“The suspect and victim exited the business, at which time the suspect produced a handgun and shot the victim,” according to the LAPD.
The suspect then fled. He was described as a white or Hispanic man between 25 and 30 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 190-200 pounds.
Trigz was a famed tattoo artist, actor and model who became part of an exclusive group of artists called The Seventh Letter, according to media
reports.
The fatal fight took place near a tattoo parlor, but not the one where the victim worked. He worked at Sincity Tattoo in Pacoima, specializing in body piercing.
