A concession stand fire Saturday at the Rose Bowl caused about $2,500 in damage, but injured no one, authorities said.
The fire was reported about 2:05 p.m. in a tented concession stand in the Rose Bowl Pavilion, which is on the concourse surrounding the stadium but in an area where only those with tickets can enter, said Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department.
It broke out after a propane tank fell out of a food service cart and began leaking, said Pasadena Fire Department Battalion Chief Dan Rosetti.
The leaking propane was ignited by the cart’s pilot light, he said.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and spent about 45 minutes on scene, Rosetti said.
The fire did about $2,000 in damage to the structure and $500 to its contents, he said.
The UCLA football team was hosting the University of Utah at the stadium Saturday night.
