A man who allegedly ran a vehicle into at least two women in West Hollywood, critically injuring one, was in custody today.
The alleged crime at Robertson Boulevard and El Tovar Avenue was reported about about 2:10 a.m., according to sheriff’s deputies at the West Hollywood station.
The suspect, whose name was unavailable, could be charged with assault with a deadly weapon, with the vehicle being regarded as the weapon, deputies said.
Several women “were laughing at a male who appeared to be extremely intoxicated” just before the alleged crime, according to a statement. “The male assaulted the females with a belt, then got into a vehicle with another male and ran over different females.”
Two women were treated for minor injuries at the scene, and two others were taken to a hospital, one of them said to be in critical condition, according to deputies.
The suspect vehicle was stopped by deputies at Genesee Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, where the driver was arrested him, deputies said. The passenger was taken into custody for questioning.
