The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 31st consecutive day, decreasing 1.2 cents to $3.928, its lowest amount since March 1.

The average price has dropped 25.1 cents during the streak, including 1 cent on Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.1 cents less than one week ago and one year ago and 25.1 cents lower than one month ago.

The 31-day streak of dropping prices is the longest since a 35-day streak from Sept. 18-Oct. 22, 2013.

The Orange County average price also dropped for the 31st consecutive day today, decreasing nine-tenths of a cent to $3.90, its lowest amount since Feb. 27.

The Orange County average price has dropped 26.6 cents during the streak, including nine-tenths of a cent on both Tuesday and Wednesday. It is 5 cents less than one week ago, 26.6 cents lower than one month ago and 6.1 cents below what it was one year ago.

The 31-day streak of dropping prices is the longest since a 47-day streak from Sept. 18-Nov. 3, 2013.

The dropping prices are the result of increased supply stemming from refineries running at a higher capacity, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
