Casey Kasem’s children will hold a private memorial service for the radio legend in the Los Angeles area today.
Details for the event, including the location, were not released to ensure privacy. A spokesman for the siblings — Kerri, Mike and Julie — said “only family and friends close to Casey will be invited to the service.”
It was unknown whether Kasem’s second wife, Jean, would be among those attending.
Jean Kasem and the children waged a bitter legal fight in the final weeks of the radio host’s life, battling over his medical care and ultimately
the decision to stop providing him with food and medicine.
Kasem died Sunday at age 82 in Gig Harbor, Washington, following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease and dementia.
His three children posted on Twitter Sunday: “Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken. The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian.”
