Critics’ Choice Television Awards Winners

Netflix’s cult hit Orange is the New Black was the best comedy series winner at the fourth annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards held June 19 at The Beverly Hilton; Breaking Bad was the best drama series winner.

Orange is the New Black and FX’s Fargo topped the field with three awards each. “Fargo’’ was selected as best mini-series, Billy Bob Thornton as best actor in a miniseries and Allison Toman as best supporting actress in a movie or mini-series.

Uzo Aduba of Orange is the New Black was selected as best guest performer in a comedy series while cast member Kate Mulgrew tied Allison Janney of CBS’ Mom for best supporting actress in a comedy series.

Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory was selected as best actor in comedy series.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus of HBO’s Veep was selected as best actress in a comedy series for the second consecutive year.

Matthew McConaughey of HBO’s True Detective won for best actor in a drama beating out last year’s winner, Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston.

Tatiana Maslany of BBC America’s Orphan Black won for best actress in a drama for the second consecutive year.

Producer/writer/director Ryan Murphy, whose credits include Glee, Nip/Tuck, and American Horror Story, was presented with the Critics’ Choice Louis XIII Genius Award, which recognizes an “icon” in the television industry.

The Broadcast Television Journalists Association presented the awards.
