Holly Mitchell and Isidro Armenta were the only two candidates running in the 30th State Senate District race in the June 3 primary. Both candidates will face each other again in the Nov. 4 general election.
As there is not a third candidate in the race, both Mitchell and Armenta were guaranteed to move forward regardless of results.
Mitchell is the incumbent; she was elected to complete the term of Curren Price, now a councilman in Los Angeles, in late 2013. Accordingly, Mitchell is seeking to be elected to her first full term as State Senator.
According to voting results posted by County officials, Mitchell was outpacing Armenta by an almost six-to-one margin.
With almost 68 percent of the vote counted just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Mitchell had 27,630 votes (85.15 percent), compared to 4,817 (14.85 percent) for Armenta.
Accordingly, Mitchell handily won the June 3 primary election.
The 30th State Senate district includes portions of the Westside, including Century City.
