Sony Pictures Studios today announced the return of its popular Twilight Tour, which will run every Thursday evening from June 26 through August 28.

The walking tour will begin at 6 p.m. and lasts for 2 hours. Tours will swing by the historic Thalberg Building for a glimpse at Columbia Pictures’ Best Picture Academy Awards and visit soundstages once home to The Wizard of Oz and other famous films. Tour groups will see the sets of smash-hit game shows, Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, and may also pop into the Barbra Streisand Scoring Stage, where some of the most memorable movie music has been recorded.

Tickets for daytime and twilight tours are available at www.sonypicturesstudiostours.com or telephone reservations can be made at 310-244-8687. Free parking is available beneath the Sony Pictures Plaza building off Madison Avenue in Culver City. Admission is $38 per guest. Children age 12 and older are welcome.

Originally constructed in 1915 as Triangle Studios, the lot became Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1924 and served as MGM’s home through the Golden Age of Hollywood. The actors and actresses under contract to MGM included Greta Garbo, Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, Joan Crawford, Elizabeth Taylor, Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland.

In 1989, Sony Corporation purchased Columbia Pictures Entertainment as well as the old MGM lot in Culver City and renamed the company Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). Soon, major renovations were underway to turn the property into a state-of-the-art facility. Today, preservation efforts have turned the studio into a modern facility and an historic landmark.

Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) is a subsidiary of Sony Entertainment Inc., a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Sony Corporation. For additional information, go to http://www.sonypictures.com.
