An aspiring Southern Californian rapper has died after being shot at a party at a Las Vegas casino, it was reported on May 17.
Evan Plunkett, 25, who performed and recorded under the nom-de-rap of “Hollywood Will,” was shot in the chest during a fight at a party in the Sky Villas suites of the Palms Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, Thursday night.
Las Vegas broadcast reports said the shooting occurred among a group of 40-50 people gathered for the filming of a music video.
Plunkett was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to a November 2007 story on the United States Marine Corps website, Plunkett was born in Westlake and graduated from Marine boot camp at Camp Pendleton as an aviation mechanic.
Plunkett’s bio indicated he had been based in Los Angeles until early 2014, when he moved to Las Vegas.
His Facebook page states he is from Encino and studied at UNLV. His last post on the popular social networking site was on May 15 and read, “It’s ABOUT to go DOWN #turnup.”
Broadcast reports said he was affiliated with a local rap group, Tha LV Boyz, and was filming a video with them when the shooting occurred. In a broadcast on NBC4 in Los Angeles, it was reported about a dozen people were involved with the shooting.
The Palms did issue a statement expressing their remorse for the unfortunate loss of life.
