Do not expect crafty arrow-shooting or meticulously-crafted swords to be on display in front of the Chinese Theatre and Madame Tussauds when the calendar flips from March into April. Instead, there will be a lot of flash photography, wide smiles, and celebratory remarks as the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will unveil April 2 the 2,521st star on the Walk of Fame in honor of actor Orlando Bloom.

The ceremony will be held at 6927 Hollywood Boulevard, where the TCL Chinese Theatre and Madame Tussauds Hollywood are located.

Joining Bloom in the festivities are director David Leveaux and actor Forest Whitaker, both of whom will serve as guest speakers.

Bloom, who was born in Canterbury, England, receives his star on the heels of fellow Brit Kate Winslet securing her place on the Walk of Fame in front of the W Hotel on St. Patrick’s Day.

Trained at the National Youth Theatre in London before studying with the British American Drama Academy, Bloom debuted on the big screen opposite Stephen Fry and Jude Law in the 1997 film Wilde.

Two of Bloom’s most iconic and recognizable roles were that of Legolas in the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies as well as Will Turner in the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films. Bloom also worked with director Ridley Scott as a supporting star in Black Hawk Down and the lead actor in Kingdom of Heaven.

Other films Bloom starred in included Troy, The Three Musketeers, New York I Love You, Ned Kelly, Elizabethtown, and Haven, among others

Bloom also produced and starred in The Good Doctor, which also featured Michael Peña, J.K. Simmons, and Taraji P. Henson.

On stage, Bloom has several credits as well thanks to his work at London’s London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama. The actor also starred on London’s West End with the revival of David Storey’s drama, In Celebration.

Whitaker co-starred with Bloom in the 2013 film Zulu. Directed by Jerome Salle, Zulu was the Cannes Film Festival’s closing night film.

The ceremony’s second speaker, Leveaux, directed Bloom in the Broadway production of Romeo and Juliet.

In addition to his film and stage career, Bloom has actively worked with UNICEF, Peace First, Make-A-Wish, and Global Green.

The event precedes The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, in which Bloom stars as Legolas, release on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD; the film will be available in stores and online April 8.

Bloom will return to the silver screen as Legolas on Dec. 17 when the final film of The Hobbit trilogy, There and Back Again, releases in theaters worldwide.

The April 2 star ceremony can be viewed streaming live on the Walk of Fame website.
