Applicants Sought For San Vicente Scenic Corridor Specific Plan Design Review Board

Los Angeles Council District 11 (Brentwood, West LA, Venice, Marina del Rey and surrounds) is seeking qualified applicants to fill positions on the San Vicente Scenic Corridor Specific Plan Design Review Board (DRB).

The DRB plays an important role in implementing the design goals of the San Vicente Scenic Corridor Specific Plan. The DRB serves as an advisory body to the City decision makers and provides recommendations on the exterior and/or site design of any new building (other than single-family residences), exterior remodeling projects (other than maintenance and repair work), and commercial signage projects located in the Specific Plan area.

The San Vicente Design Review Board shall consist of seven voting members. Three members shall reside within the Specific Plan area, or in the immediately adjacent area no great than one mile from the outermost boundary of the Specific Plan area, and one member shall own a retail business or be a managerial employee of a retail business within the Specific Plan area. Applicants should have:
— knowledge of, or interest in, architecture, urban design, and the development process:
— the ability to evaluate projects based on design guidelines;
— the ability to listen and communicate effectively at public meetings; and
— a passion for, and vision of, design in the San Vicente Scenic Corridor area.

DRB members will be appointed by Councilman Mike Bonin.

The DRB meets on the second and fourth Thursdays at 5 pm, and DRB members serve up to two four-year terms.

Anyone interested in serving on the DRB can submit an application consisting of a resume and a cover letter detailing your interest in and qualifications for the position. Applications are due by Friday, March 28, 2014
