A hospital executive from Barstow, Calif., was named CEO of Marina Del Rey Hospital, it was announced last week.
Sean Fowler, who was previously the top executive of Barstow Community Hospital, was named CEO of the 145-bed acute care Marina Del Rey Hospital. He assumed his role Feb. 10.
“Sean Fowler is a seasoned professional who brings the expertise, leadership and vision to guide our hospital now, and ensure our success into the future,” Marina Del Rey Hospital’s chairman of the board Thomas Wafer stated.
According to the hospital, Fowler has more than 20 years of experience in operations, service line development, physician relations and financial management. Prior to his time at Barstow Community Hospital, Fowler was the Chief Operating Officer of Western Medical Center Santa Ana in Santa Ana, Calif.
Fowler succeeded Fred Hunter, who served as Marina Del Rey’s president and CEO since 2006. In 2007, Hunter oversaw the renaming of the medicine venue from Daniel Freeman Marina Hospital to Marina Del Rey Hospital. The hospital stated it also made “significant investments in robotic surgery systems and other state-of-the-art technology” during Hunter’s tenure.
It is expected Fowler will oversee the hospital’s further growth and development as a leading center of surgical services, spine treatment, and round-the-clock emergency care.
