During March, Boy Scout Troop 117- Brentwood held its 27th Annual Food Drive. The residents of Brentwood generously donated approximately 2000 grocery items along with $850 to replenish the shelves of the Westside Food Bank.
This major effort by the Troop involved 30 Scouts, 10 Adult Leaders, parents, siblings and friends who put forth approx 340 man-hours in prep, collection and delivery of non perishable food. These hardworking young people are currently devising a plan for a “new and improved †28th Annual Drive next year.
The intention is to reach more residents of greater Brentwood while making the drive more eco-friendly.
The young men of Troop 117 demonstrate an important part of the Scout Oath and Scout Law through the execution of this drive, “to be helpful to others†. They are aware that unfortunately, the need for food assistance at Westside Food Bank increases every year and strive to raise their collection goal.
Troop 117 would like to thank the residents of Brentwood who participated along with their sponsors: Brentwood Presbyterian Church, Vicente Foods and Lisa Mansfield of Sotheby’s Realty.
