BEVERLY HILLS RESIDENT EARL KLUFT TO BE HONORED BY CITY OF HOPE

Earl Kluft of E.S. Kluft & Co., wife Pam Kluft and members of the City of Hope's National Home Furnishings Industry Group tour the campus of the City of Hope cancer center in Duarte, Calif.
Earl Kluft, CEO of E.S. Kluft & Co., will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the City of Hope West Coast Golf and Tennis Tournament on June 6 at the Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club in Orange County.

Kluft, known for his lavish handmade mattresses, was tapped for the honor by his peers in City of Hope’s National Home Furnishings Industry group, a coalition of donors to the cancer research and treatment center.

“We are honored to have Earl stand with City of Hope in the fight against cancer,†said Shannon Sullivan, director of development for City of Hope. “His support will enable researchers to fast track promising, new therapies for a future without cancer.”

E.S. Kluft & Company recently made headlines with its Palais Royale mattress, which sells exclusively at Bloomingdale’s for $33,000. The ultra-luxurious handcrafted mattress is made with silk, cashmere, Talalay latex and other exquisite materials, and takes four skilled mattress artisans 10 days to make.

Kluft, a third generation mattress designer, began learning his craft as a 14-year-old boy in the sewing room of his family’s mattress factory in Southern California, and throughout his career he has been driven and inspired to excel in the business. Under his leadership the prestigious brands of Spring Air, Chattam & Wells, and Kluft have earned prominence as the highest standard of luxury bedding to which the industry aspires.

Kluft continues in the tradition of his forefathers, taking his craft to a higher level with each mattress he creates. Every mattress to which he gives his name is more special than the last, offering exceptional quality and “legacy craftsmanship†such as eight-way hand-tied coils, hand tufting, hand tailoring and side-stitching, and the finest materials available in the world, including the highest quality Belgian damask jacquard fabrics, New Zealand Joma wool, Mohair, silk, cashmere, natural Talalay latex, English nested coils, Flax and certified organic cotton.

Kluft gives back to the community through contributions to numerous philanthropic programs, including City of Hope, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Gilda’s Club, Women at Risk, National Diabetes Association and many others.

“City of Hope is a world-wide leader in cancer research for treatments and prevention of cancer,” said Kluft. “We all have family and friends whose lives have been affected by this deadly disease. I’m proud to be part of the effort along with City of Hope to bring about promising scientific discoveries that will help patients to beat this disease.”

Approximately 250 golfers and 25 tennis players will participate in the event, which is followed by a dinner attended by 500. The event, the largest of its kind sponsored by the National Home Furnishings Industry, is expected to raise approximately $600,000 this year and has raised more than $5 million for City of Hope in its 20-year history. In 45 years, the industry chapter has raised more than $43 million for City of Hope.

In 2004, third-generation mattress maker Earl Kluft founded E. S. Kluft & Co. and created the next hallmark of luxury bedding. Kluft’s Aireloom® designs offer artisanal quality and legacy features such as hand-tied coils and hand side-stitching. Kluft lines feature the most advanced materials, patented designs and technologies available in the world, including the highest quality Belgian jersey knits and damask fabrics, English nested coils, New Zealand Joma wool, natural Talalay latex, bio-based foams, and natural and eco-friendly fibers. Kluft is available in more than 350 select U.S. retailers and internationally. To learn more, visit www.kluftmattress.com and www.aireloom.com.
