A TASTE OF TRUE HOLLYWOOD STYLE

Once a back lot of 20th Century Fox — which still has its headquarters just to the west of the property — the prestigious 364 room hotel is mostly comprised of spacious suites for the pleasure of its stylish entertainment clientele.

During Fox Studio’s heyday, icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were regular visitors. Today, politicians, world dignitaries and Hollywood stars continue to step on the famous Avenue of the Stars as frequent guests of the InterContinental Los Angeles which offers them and locals alike great ways to enjoy a taste of the old glamour.

Glamour Happy Hour – A Taste of True Hollywood Style:
Experience a taste of true Hollywood style during the InterContinental “Glamour Happy Hour†! Rather than sit bumper to bumper in the middle of LA rush hour, stop by the hotel from 4pm to 7pm during weekdays and listen to incredible live music while sipping on fantastic cocktails in the luxurious Lobby Lounge or in the stunning Garden with its cozy fire pits.

The hotel’s talented mixologists have mastered unique cocktail creations such as the 80 Proof Arnold Palmer or the Organic Lemon Drop that stressed-out travelers and Angelenos alike can enjoy for the very friendly Happy Hour price of $5! Remember to try the hotel’s signature cocktail, The Looking Glass, a stunning concoction of champagne, raspberry vodka, triple sec and white cranberry juice – a popular favorite. The Happy Hour Menu also includes an outstanding selection of Appetizers for just $10. The Trio of Kobe Sliders, the Porcini and Artichoke Flatbread with Truffle Cream and the Shot Glass Shrimp Tempura are all sensational.

Live Music:
On Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 6pm to 10pm the hotel showcases a range of talented artists. These exceptional live evenings, reminiscent of the Hollywood golden era, have developed a wide and devoted following amongst suave locals.

Every Wednesday night, the sultry romantic rhythms of live flamenco music fill the Lobby Lounge. The hotel features different flamenco artists every week including the supremely talented Omar Torrez. Dubbed “the fastest fingers in the west!†by The Seattle Times, Omar is a great classical and Flamenco guitarist who mixes elements of gypsy guitar with American rock to produce a wholly original sound and style. Also playing on Wednesday evenings is Calle. Calle’s music is a mix of Latin and Flamenco rhythms with pop/rock/funk and electronic elements. Indeed they can play a wide musical menu, ranging from “chill-out†instrumental songs to danceable rumba; from traditional tangos/flamencos to Latin /pop.

On Thursday nights at InterContinental’s Lobby Lounge, cool it down with a jolt of jazz, also from 6pm to 10pm. The live jazz evenings have developed a wide and devoted following and feature artists such as Rob K and the Acoustic Jazz Quartet. Rob K is one of the most versatile woodwind players on the jazz scene today. Highly in demand as a straight ahead jazz player, as a smooth jazz player and as a Brazilian Specialist, Rob K is all around musician’s musician. http://lajazzbands.com/groups/RobK. The Acoustic Jazz Quartet performs a blend of sophisticated original compositions along with a unique treatment of the classic jazz repertoire. http://www.acousticjazzquartet.com .

The InterContinental’s Lobby Lounge is also home to the incredible Bar-Hayama sushi bar. Open daily from 5:30pm to 10pm, award winning LA Sushi Master Toshi Sugiura offers an outstanding selection of sushi and sashimi.
