A state appeals court recently ruled that a deal allowing two companies (CBS and Clear Channel) to transform about 100 static billboards to digital billboards unfairly excluded other billboard companies. The suit was brought by locally owned Summit Media of Santa Monica.
Two intersections with disputed digital billboards are local to Brentwood: Bundy and Wilshire; and Wellesley and Wilshire.
As a result of the ruling, it’s possible some digital billboards will have to come down – or that authorities will figure out a way to adjust the formula for handing out air rights for digital billboards.
Clear Channel’s attorneys said they are exploring appealing the ruling.
