Ingrid Kern Says You Should “Name Your Monsterâ€

Q: What does the title of the book mean when it asks, “What is Your Monster’s Name?â€

A. My book “What’s Your Monster’s Name covers challenges, problems, situations, which sometimes may be little monsters and sometimes they may stay on for a very long time and become big MONSTERS.

The interviews I conducted and my participation for the book are giving us insight into people’s way of dealing with difficult situations by applying a certain life skill.
Q: What’s your monster’s name?

A. My Monster’s name was Fear – fear of not being good enough, fear of not being loved, not living up to people’s expectations. I experienced physical, emotional and psychological abuse during my childhood and I allowed some of that to continue into my adulthood. I survived, became stronger and healed those deep wounds. I trulIngrid Kerny reached into the belly of the beast and accomplished a massive cleansing.

Writing and getting the book published opened my mind and my heart. It made me aware of how I was adjusting my behavior and believing in myself during this process.
In the past I published two books of Poetry. “Volume One†and “Words From An Unchained Heart†. At the time it was easier for me to write Poetry rather than connect with my Monsters. I always was writing and somehow I needed to get rid of what was lodged deep inside of me, so I was hiding that pain within my poems.

Q: The intention of the book, I’m assuming, is to help others overcome their monsters. How does the book go about accomplishing this for the reader?

A. I am committed to help shortening the healing process of people who have been in abusive relationships. Nobody should have to wait until they get to be my age, because the freedom to BE ME is awesome.

You may not be a writer. No matter what your dream was or still is, reconnect to it, make it your mission and live it. Everyone has a purpose; make yours the most important thing in your life.

Q: What’s your connection to Brentwood?

A. I moved to Los Angeles from New York in 1996 and I started working in Brentwood as a Realtor with Nourmand & Associates in 1999. The Nourmand family embraced me, supported my individuality and they became my second family.

Q: How can fellow Brentwoodians get a copy of your book?

A. My book “What’s Your Monster’s Name?†is available in paperback and for the Kindle at www.Amazon.com and at www.BarnesandNoble.com in paperback and the Nook.

Part of the proceeds from my book is going to V.I.P. which is Violence Intervention Program located in Los Angeles and deals with abused women and children.
