At the Las Madrinas Annual Meeting held on February 15, 2012, Mrs. Gary Allen Darnell (Katie), President, announced the completion of the group’s $5 million pledge to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles funding Autism Research as well as the launch of a second $5 million commitment in support of Pediatric Simulation Research.
Mrs. Darnell reported that Las Madrinas has successfully fulfilled its $5 million pledge for the Las Madrinas Autism Research Interventions and Outcomes Endowment currently under the direction of Dr. Michele D. Kipke.
As a result of the autism research and treatment being conducted at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Autism Speaks has designated the hospital as an Autism Treatment Network (ATN) Center of Clinical Excellence. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is the only ATN Center of Clinical Excellence located in California.
