Q: Where in Egypt are you from? How long have you been here? How is it you came to the states? And why Brentwood
A: I was born and raised in PORT-SAID, a city that lies in North Egypt extending about 30km along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, North of the Suez Canal.
I came to Los Angeles 10 years ago, my Dad’s family lived in CA for over 30 years, and owns an Egyptian restaurant and lounge, very well known in the Middle Eastern/ Egyptian community called ( HABIBI CAFÉ) in Westwood. I live in Brentwood and work at Union Bank- Brentwood Square Branch.
Q: What do you do at Union Bank?
A: I’m a Relationship Banker, responsible for developing new and existing Business and Consumer banking relationships.
Q: Do you still have family in Egypt? What have you heard from them?
A: Yes, my mom and my brother who study business management and accounting in Egypt.
Q: Do you know any of the protesters?
A: Yes, so many: my brother, family members and friends.
Q: What do you hope will happen in Egypt?
A: This is the best thing that has happened to my country. I’m in support of this protest and finally the revolution paid off and our country is free.
Congratulation to all Egyptians around the world, Egypt showed the world how it’s done. I’m so proud to be EGYPTIAN.
Q Would you feel safe to go back for a visit any time soon?
A: Yes, I’m planning on going this summer.
Q: Will you stay here permanently, do you think? What’s your dream for the future?
A: LA is my second home, and my plans for the next 5 years, is to start my own family, also my own business in home staging/ interior designing.
But, I definitely want to retire somewhere in Europe (PARIS) or go back to Egypt.
