The 34-story high-rise slated for construction at Wilshire and Stoner avenues was approved this month by the Los Angeles City Council’s Planning and Land Use Commission.
Developer Douglas Emmett is one step closer to seeing a 34-story tower being built at the corner of Wilshire and Stoner avenues in Brentwood, after the Los Angeles City Council’s Planning and Land Use Commission approved the development earlier this month.
Plans for the project have been in the works since 2014, but have had to go back to the drawing board on more than one occasion.
As part of the latest agreement, Douglas Emmett Management will contribute $625,000 to an affordable housing trust, which will include 16 units.
The site of the project near Barrington Avenue is where the former Pavilions grocery store sat at 11770 Wilshire Blvd and is called Landmark II, following revisions after local residents weighed in.
The project will stand 349 feet tall with its 34-story contemporary glass building designed by Gensler Architects on the 2.8-acre site. It will include 376-multifamily dwellings (in addition to the 16 for low-income residents).
The re-imagined project will now include a 1-acre park. Upon completion, Landmark II will be an Energy Star labeled building, have a private gym for tenants at a discounted rate, 24-hour onsite security personnel, a fitness center, outdoor pool deck, bicycle storage area and a recreation room.
The current underground parking garage on the site will be partially demolished to allow for an additional 1,122 parking spaces.
Construction is estimated to take about 30 months, with the projected completion date sometime in 2020.
