Actor T.J. Miller Arrested on Battery Charge

Actor T.J. Miller, who is scheduled to host the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, was arrested Friday in Hollywood on a battery complaint lodged by a transportation company driver.

The driver called Los Angeles police and lodged a complaint asking for the arrest of the 35-year-old Miller, whose full name is Todd Joseph Miller, according to Los Angeles County jail records and LAPD Officer Jenny Houser.

Officers went to the 6900 block of Camrose Avenue about 1 a.m. and took Miller into custody, Hauser said. He was booked on a citizen’s complaint for battery.

Miller posted $20,000 bail and was released from jail about 5:30 a.m. He was tentatively scheduled to appear in court Jan.  9.

Hauser would not confirm if the driver worked for Uber or release the driver’s name.

“We don’t release victim’s name or the company he works for,” Hauser told City News Service. “All I can say is that he was a driver for a transportation company.”

Miller is best known for his roles in the HBO series “Silicon Valley,” and Marvel’s off-beat superhero movie “Deadpool.” He also stars opposite Jennifer Aniston in “Office Christmas Party,” which opened in theaters Friday.

Joey Berlin, the executive producer of the Critics Choice Awards, which will be held Sunday at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, told CNS he had no immediate reaction to Miller’s arrest.

“I just heard it happened. I don’t have the details yet,” Berlin said.

Berlin, president of the Broadcast Television Journalists Assocation and Broadcast Film Critics Association, said he learned about the arrest through awards show production personnel.

“My understanding is that he will still be hosting the Critics Choice Awards this Sunday,” Berlin said. “It’s not going to affect the show.”
