Fox drew the largest audience for Game 2 of the World Series since 2009, just like it did for Game 1, according to live-plus-same-day figures released Thursday by Nielsen.
The Chicago Cubs 5-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday averaged 17.395 million viewers, the most for a Game 2 since 2009, when the second game of the Series between the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies averaged 18.9 million viewers.
Viewership was up 26.8 percent from Game 2 of the 2015 Series between the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets, which averaged 13.722 million viewers.
Viewership was down 10.2 percent from the Game 1 average of 19.368 million.
Game 2 started an hour earlier than Game 1 because of a forecast of rain disrupting play with the later start.
