A Burbank man was arrested for attempting to meet with a 16-year-old girl for sex near Union Station, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced today.
Rafael Ceja-Perez, 37, solicited sex from an undercover sheriff’s detective posing as a 16-year-old girl on a social media website, according to sheriff’s Lt. Kent Wegener.
Ceja-Perez’s arrest on the felony charge of suspicion of arranging to meet a minor for lewd behavior occurred at 6:16 p.m. Wednesday near Union Station where he expected to meet the girl, Wegener said.
Ceja-Perez was booked at East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station and is being held without bond, according to online jail records. His next court appearance is slated for Sept. 23, the records show.
“Our mission is to identify and arrest those who choose to exploit and traffic children,” said Lt. Barry Hall who led the group of detectives involved in the operation. “Whether it happens on the street or on the internet, our goal is to make it stop.”
