UCLA Receives Multiple Awards at Circle K International Convention

UCLA Circle KUCLA’s chapter of Circle K International (CKI) won several awards at the 61st annual Circle K International Convention in Toronto, Canada on June 22-25, placing in three competitive categories. With 225 members, the chapter raised nearly $21,000 for various charities and volunteered almost 11,000 service hours this past year.

The UCLA Chapter was awarded 2nd place in Club Achievement in the Platinum Division (chapters with more than 86 members). UCLA has placed first or second in this top category for the past nine consecutive years.

UCLA also received 2nd place in Outstanding Kiwanis Family Relations (Nicholas Stringfellow, Kiwanis Family Networking Chair and Lindon Tran, Kiwanis Family Youth Chair) and 3rd place in Preferred Charities and Service Partners (Alondra Covarrubias, Large Scale Fundraising Chair and Marcela Caldera, Small Scale Fundraising Chair). In addition to the club-level awards, UCLA member Josef Madrigal was recognized as a Distinguished Lieutenant Governor.

“It is truly an honor to have received these awards at ICON this past weekend,” said Lisa Chong, 2015-2016 UCLA CKI President. “These awards would not have been possible without the dedication and support of our selfless members who have organized innovative projects and events, are involved in committees, and have created tight-knit families and bonds. Our hard work has truly paid off with these well-deserved recognitions. I want each member of UCLA Circle K to be proud of their individual contributions in building our club to what it is today and to let these awards serve as an inspiration to reach even greater heights in the future.”
